Well done you made it! It’s Friday, the long week is over and it’s time to enjoy yourself over the bumper weekend. But just how should you spend it? No, don’t bother with DIY or taking the kids school shopping — they’ll only lose their pencil case in the first week anyway, spend it having fun. How? Here are some of the best things on around the Cotswolds and at the pub.
Starting today Alex James — the nation’s favourite/much-maligned bassist-turned-cheesemaker, is hosting his annual music and food festival on the grounds of the farm he owns near Kingham.
Headliners include Basement Jaxx, Paloma Faith and Craig David, and this year they have a particularly impressive selection of celebrity chefs such as Marco Pierre White and Gennaro Contaldo.
At time of writing there are still both weekend and day tickets going, so why not see if you can nab some and treat the kids?
If you never really liked Blur that much then consider the Hawkesbury Horticultural Show instead. In its 133rd year, the Hawkesbury show is thought to be the longest continually running horticultural show in the UK. There will be the usual giant vegetable competitions, tractor pulls and of course a big beer tent if giant marrows and falconry aren’t your main interests.
Sunday evening from 730pm we have our monthly pub quiz. Quizmaster General Andy has been racking his brains all week to come up with some devilishly tricky questions and we have the usual fantastic prizes. Our quizzes are usually very popular so booking is recommended.
